The Covid-19 situation forced many of us to adapt our work systems to allow us to continue working. Piano lessons were no different.
All my students moved online with me during lockdown, initially using Zoom, but the moving on to a new platform specially developed for music lessons. The quality of both audio and video is far superior to Zoom, Facetime, etc, and is quite a pleasant experience. The student just needs to install an app on their smart device to participate in the lessons.
For the vast majority of students, their broadband speed is perfectly adequate for online lessons, but in about 10% of cases, it can be problematic. As a result, I developed a new system enabling the student to upload a video of them playing a piece to my admin system, and then I would send a video back with a full analysis of their playing. Having the video available to them meant that students were able to go back to the video as often as they needed.
Some people are just very comfortable to have their lessons online. Perhaps their teacher lives just too far away? Or maybe you are not able to travel at the time of the lessons? All of these could be good reasons for conducting your lessons online.
Rest assured that I am suitable equipment to run online lessons here and have a number of online teaching aids to make the lessons more engaging. And I have super-fast fibre optic cable broadband at my house to make the experience as good as it can be,
